Nomadic in how we work, dependable in what we deliver
WEB NOMADS is a small freelance agency based in Winterthur. Small means you talk to the people who do the development.
The name is the programme, though not as a lifestyle claim. It describes a way of working: we work independently of place — on a beach, in a café or in an office. What matters is not where we sit but that the result is right. For you that means short lines of communication and no travel charges for things that can be settled in writing or on the phone.
What we hold ourselves to
- Certified. TYPO3 CMS Certified Developer (TCCD) and TYPO3 CMS Certified Integrator (TCCI). That is no substitute for experience, but it shows the fundamentals are in place.
- No vendor lock-in. The code and the documentation are yours. We want to come back because the work is good, not because nobody else can find their way around.
- We communicate honestly. If we’re not the right fit or the timeline is unrealistic, we’ll let you know in advance. If we’re too small for the job, we’ll recommend a suitable partner agency, but we’ll stay on board if you wish.
- Accessibility and performance are part of the job. Not a line item that can be struck out.
- What counts goes in writing. Decisions, assumptions and estimates end up in short minutes. That protects both sides.
How we came to TYPO3
Through projects that other systems could no longer carry: six languages with different editorial teams, finely grained access rights, interfaces to line-of-business applications, content structures that refuse to be pressed into a blog schema. TYPO3 feels more unwieldy than the alternatives in the first few weeks and pays off from the second year onwards. That time horizon is exactly where we are at home.
And the nomads?
The dromedary in the logo is no accident. Nomadic cultures do not wander aimlessly — they follow routes proven over generations and carry only what has earned its place. They know that survival does not depend on how much luggage you have but on the quality of your decisions: what stays, what gets left behind? That attitude shapes every step, every route, every camp. It is a rather good description of how we want to build software.
That philosophy lives in every one of our TYPO3 projects.
Limits and partner network
Being small has a price. Undertakings that involve several editorial departments, hard availability guarantees or app development running alongside belong in a larger structure. When we reach that conclusion we say so in the first conversation — and find the right partner agency for you rather than leaving you with a refusal.
We have worked with several TYPO3 agencies in Switzerland, Germany and Austria for years and know their focus areas and their workload. You get one or two reasoned recommendations and, if you want it, the introduction that goes with them. On request we stay in the project as TYPO3 specialists — either on your side as technical support or within the agency team.
